ITALY: Labour Inspectorate. Inspections on the premises of road haulage companies.

The MIT Decree of 17 July 2025, published in the Official Gazette No. 173 of 28 July 2025, approves the checklist template for inspections conducted by the National Labour Inspectorate on the premises of road transport companies. The checks listed in the checklist are not exhaustive; therefore, inspection activities may also involve additional documents and records that must be retained. The checklist template must also be used during inspections carried out on company premises, including in cases of accidents or irregularities detected on the road. In particular, inspections will cover the size of the fleet, the employment contracts applied, tachograph data, driver status, working days, breaches of driving time limits, and confirmed infringements. This measure implements EU Directive 1057/2020, which requires the inspection of documentation on the premises of road transport companies in cases of serious irregularities identified on the road.
